An Efficient Lossless Medical Image Compression Approach using Iterative Haar Wavelet Transformation

چکیده
The main process involves in medical image compression algorithms is encoding information using lesser amount of bits than the original representation used. Image compression is useful as it reduces the load of expensive resources and their consumption. These resources include transmission bandwidth, disk space etc. Compression may be lossy or lossless. But we avoided the concept of lossy compression in case of medical images because the effect of lossy compression may loss some sensitive information from the image. On the other hand in lossless image compression we get the exactly same data after decompression process as the original image. In this paper we proposed a new method for lossless image compression of medical images using enhanced Haar Wavelet technique to improve the compression percentage and compression ration of the compression process.
